Frequently Asked Questions

Information:

How long is the school year?

Our school year begins July 1 of each year and ends in June.

According to California's Educational Code, a child must attend school a minimum of 175 days a year and a minimum of 3 hours on those days. However, Lux et Veritas Academy recommends more days per a year and the hours vary per age and subjects. Most instruction is independent, teaching students to become responsible for a lifetime of learning. However, we do have lectures and group discussions.

Our school has a minimal summer schedule, such as our High School students are currently reading through "Much Ado About Nothing" by Shakespeare, watching Ben Shapiro, Dr. Jordan Peterson, and other "free thinkers" or reading the Daily Wire and journaling about current events, reading through the Bible, while watching Clark Van Wick or other Bible Teacher videos and tracking how it impacts their lives.

We believe that a mind should always be engaged in learning/thinking/investigating on a daily basis, even during summer.

How do I obtain a school ID?

You will be issued a school ID the first week of school. If you lose your ID it may be replaced for a minimal charge. Please contact us for a replacement.

How do I obtain a work permit?

A work permit is obtained by printing the following form. The parent of the student and the employer must fill our portions of the form and submit it for our approval. If all is in proper order, our administrator will issue a work permit for your student and send copies of it to the superintendent of the school district in which our school is located: STATEMENT OF INTENT TO EMPLOY A MINOR AND REQUEST FOR WORK PERMIT– CERTIFICATE OF AGE.
